To make the map, Professor Nam and I each carved out of a woodblock a map of Lawrence according to our individual memory. Once the woodblocks were completed, we printed the maps, without any effort to work out the inconsistencies, on top of each other. The prints were then bound into 50 books with a blank transparent page over our map. Once the show opened, we posted instructions in the tent, and invited the participants to draw their own maps and comments on the transparent page on top of our map. On the back cover of the book, we asked them to write their names and addresses, and we sent the books to them at the end of the exhibition.
